All pug owners describe them as friendly and lovable companions. Puppies are quite playful, however, as they grow up, the need for active leisure fades away, and the main joy in the pet’s life is quiet hours on the couch in the company of the owner.
The exact history of the origin of pugs is still not known. They are believed to have originated before 400 BC. in Tibetan monasteries, where they were already kept as pets.
Most emperors in ancient China kept pugs as domestic companions and treated them like family members. Some of their dogs even had their own guards and mini-palaces.
It is rumored that Napoleon’s wife Josephine’s pet pug bit her lover when he first entered their bedroom.
