Border Collies are observant, good-natured workers with an extremely peaceful character. Lying aimlessly on the rug, English Shepherds will always prefer doing some responsible assignment or intense training in the fresh air. Work for these dogs is not a routine, but the meaning of life, so you should not try to transform an energetic border into a “couch city dweller”.
Originally raised in Scotland, the Border Collie thrived in the area between Scotland and England – literally on the border – where these live dogs have tended sheep for centuries.
The word “collie” is actually Scottish in origin and is used to describe shepherd dogs. This is how the nickname “Border Collie” was born.
They Are The Champions: Border Collies are truly the champions among any herding breed – although they were originally bred to herd sheep in the United Kingdom, they are still used to herd different types of livestock in farm/ranch settings.
