You could mix and match them in front of a blind dog, or a dog who wasn’t even in the room when you put the snack under the cups, and they’d still know which one it was under, purely because of their incredible sense of smell.
The first few times he looks at his master like “why are you doing this to me?” then he figures out he can find it by its scent.
