The Hungarian Vizsla is not only a good choice as a gun dog but also as a family dog, including a companion for playing with children, however, grown-up. This is a very energetic and agile creature that needs long and active walks, however, it will be happy to keep the owner company while jogging or cycling, and will also play ball or frisbee. Dogs of this breed are very intelligent, well trained, therefore they are often trained to participate in all kinds of sports competitions. Well, at home, the vizsla is content with little: it is important for her to be close to the owner, like a cat to lie on his lap or at his feet.
Ninth-tenth century – Pointing dogs (ancestors of modern Vizsla) appeared on the territory of Hungary together with the Magyar tribes. Nomads survived solely thanks to the hunting industry, which is why the cops were their indispensable helpers.
The eleventh-century – Magyar cops, because of their innate love of freedom, often left their homes, going to explore new places. During this period, the hunting dogs of the nomads spread throughout Hungary. Only against the background of local hunting breeds, the newly arrived dogs were not appreciated.
Twelfth-fifteenth century – the ideal hunting talent was finally noticed by Hungarian nobles who loved to hunt. The Magyar cops won their hearts with their grace, dexterity, and versatility.
