Despite the fact that they will defend their owners and property with persistent barking, they are unlikely to support such a noise with real aggression.
Because of their excellent sense of smell, combined with boundless energy and desire to please their owners, they are sometimes used as drug hunting dogs.
They are used in the Association of Guide Dogs for the Blind breeding program in the UK, both as a breed and as a cross with a Labrador Retriever.
