The Flat-Coated Retriever is an attentive, energetic, extremely cheerful, and very kind dog. He is very attached to his family, especially affectionate with children. Devoid of aggression, he does not support loneliness. The Flat-Coated Retriever is naturally inclined to hunt. It is truly a first-class working dog that always works with enthusiasm. He is a very sociable dog with all animals.
The Flat-Coated Retriever has strong, muscular jaws and a relatively long snout.
Its head is unique to this breed and is described as “one-piece” with a minimal stop and a rear of about the same length as the muzzle.
Introduced in mid-19th century England, the flat-coated retriever gained popularity as a gamekeeper’s dog.
