The Patterdale Terrier is an English working breed that began to spread actively in its homeland in the 18th century. The dog is intended for hunting burrowing animals: foxes, badgers, small rodents.
Until today, dogs are used for their intended purpose, with proper training and education, Patterdale has no equal.
Very few dog breeds can trace their ancestry back to the person who started it all, but in the case of the Patterdale Terrier, there is a specific name – Joe Bowman.
One reason is that the origin of the breed only goes back to the early 20th century, so there was a fair amount of recordkeeping being done.
Compare that height to that of your average Chihuahua and you have roughly the same size dog.
