Even in modern conditions, shepherd qualities wake up in collies. If the owner with the children went out for a walk, then the pet will graze them in its own way, making sure that no one strays from the flock.
Dogs began to be called “collies” as early as the 17th century. The description of the Scottish Shepherd Dogs appeared in 1792 in the book “The History of the Quadruped”. At the beginning of the 19th century, shepherd dogs with long hair, white and black, were mentioned in the Encyclopedia Britannica of Dogs.
In the second half of the 19th century, collies became the favorites of royalty. In 1860, Queen Victoria brought them from Scotland, and they were kept as companion dogs in the royal palace. In the same year, the Rough Collie was first presented at the Birmingham Show.
