The nature of the Nebelung

Typical of the Nebelung is their reserved but good-natured nature. She often reacts stressed to changes in her environment. She is usually timid around strangers and children. Your trust needs to be earned. Once the cat has gotten used to you, it is very trusting. In addition, Nebelungen are very intelligent and creative cats that demand a lot of attention.
Appearance

The Nebelung’s athletic body is supported by long and muscular legs on oval paws. Her graceful gait, in harmony with her long and bushy tail, makes her appear graceful and confident. The elegance of the cat is strongly reminiscent of the Russian Blue breed, with the Nebelung being adorned with a long-haired coat. Her wide-set oval eyes shine in yellow-green to green.
The only recognized color is the original gray of the progenitors Sigfried and Brunhilde, without any coat markings. The Nebelung’s silvery, shimmering fur is due to their special hair coloring, with the tips of their hair being much lighter in colour. In kittens, tabby patterns can appear in the first year of life, but these will fade over time.
History and origin

The Nebelung is a very young and still rare breed that was first bred in America in the 1980s. It arose from a random cross between a short-haired black cat and a black tomcat, which resembles the Angora cat. Further crossings of long-haired animals finally led to the recognition of the breed.
The name “Nebelung” can be derived from the nickname of their progenitors Siegfried and Brunhilde (main characters from the Nibelungen saga) and their misty, shimmering fur.
Only cats that are direct descendants of Siegfried and Brunhilde are recognized as original Nebelungen.
Notes on the attitude of the Nebelung

The Nebelung feels most comfortable when it is cared for by a maximum of two caregivers. A quiet environment that offers the sensitive cat enough opportunities to retreat is ideal. Being kept in a large family would cause her unnecessary stress. Basically, the Nebelung is a sociable cat that likes to have a fellow cat by its side. Keeping them in a rural area with plenty of freedom is ideal.
