There’s a lot to love about these cold-blooded creatures and more and more people are realizing that they make wonderful pets. Snakes are particularly attractive in the exotic pet trade for many reasons. While they are not as affectionate or get as visibly excited as cats and dogs, these peaceful creatures are beautiful living displays that offer a unique opportunity to bond with a species in an entirely different animal class.

Most owners buy snakes locally from pet stores, although mail ordering from reptile breeders is also common. If you buy a Snake pet through the mail, make sure you know what you are getting! It is better to see the animal before you purchase it. Ask about a guarantee if the pet does not turn out to be what you want or is not healthy .You need snakes for pets? Check adoption centers before you buy.

Start out right with a healthy pet. Young, captive-raised animals make the best pets. Older, imported, wild-caught animals are harder to tame, may harbor more internal and external parasites, and often suffer illness from the stress in captivity. The vent should be clean and free of wetness or stool stuck to it. If possible, gently open the mouth. There should be a small amount of clear saliva present and a pink tongue. Large amounts of cloudy-looking or cottage cheese-like mucus, or red, bloody, or bruised gums may be a sign of mouth infection.

Shedding Check

Avoid snakes that appear skinny or bony, have loose skin or sunken eyes, and seem inactive or lethargic. A healthy snake is usually bright, active, and alert. The eyes should be clear. Cloudy eyes may indicate that the snake is about to shed. While not a sign of illness, shedding is very stressful to snakes, and they often do not eat when they are shedding. It is best not to purchase a snake that is about to shed.

Mite and Lump Checks

Check around the snakes’ eyes and under its scales for mites, which look like tiny black dots that move. Make sure no lumps or bumps are present and there are no sores or discolorations on the skin. Simply running your hands slowly down the snake's body will allow you to detect any swellings.

They don’t require physical interaction or socializing

Snakes are the epitome of low maintenance: they require very little from their owners aside from food and their initial setup. They don’t need any sort of attention or interaction from their owners. Since their brains aren’t developed enough to harbor affection, you won’t hurt a snake’s feelings by leaving it alone. These creatures don’t require much by way of entertainment either. No need to constantly buy toys or take your snake out for walks. A hide box and a few branches are that’s needed to provide them with enough change of scenery and exercise to keep them content.

Feeding them is extremely cost-effective

All snakes are carnivores, and rodents are one of the easiest ways to provide them a balanced and wholesome diet. The average adult snake only needs to be fed every 7-10 days - some species can go even longer between feedings. When they do eat, it isn’t much and most are happy with a single good-sized mouse or rat. The average monthly cost of feeding a snake averages around $20 a month. The bigger the snake (in terms of girth), the larger and more expensive the food they will need.

Snakes for Pets? Snakes don’t require a lot of space

Unlike dogs and cats which need room to roam, snakes have no need to get out and stretch their metaphorical legs. As such, most snakes would be perfectly content to stay in an spacious terrarium their entire life. Even the tiniest apartment would suit your average snake just fine; there is no need for a yard or expansive space for them to slither around in. Your average-sized adult snake will do in a 55-75 gallon setup it’s entire life.

They are really (really) cool looking

Pueblan Milk Snake ( Lampropeltis triangulum campbelli) also known as the Campbells Milk Snake. Can be found in southern Puebla, eastern Morelos and northern Oaxaca, Mexico. Are also very popular in the pet trade. Photo taken in captivity.

Logistics aside, the main draw of having a snake as a pet is their wow-factor. Available in dozens of dazzling colors and unique patterns, snakes’ unique appearance adds a fun level of customization that cat and dog breeds can’t compete with. Even common, beginner-level snakes have dozens upon dozens of cool morphs. Snakes in fantastic colors have been cross-bred with snakes of distinct patterns to create animals that are living works of art.

Which Snakes Make the Best Pets

Snakes are steadily growing in popularity and there are hundreds of species circulating in the exotic pet trade. The snakes that make the best pets will be well-tempered, non-aggressive, and have minimal habitat requirements. Our recommendations: look for corn snakes, king snakes, or ball pythons for sale for a guaranteed enjoyable snake-ownership experience.

Your dog is one of the closest friends you have around you. It is normal sometimes to let them feed off your plate and in the process ingesting different types of food. Well, if that is what you are used to, then you probably should take more care next time. Although dogs have adapted humans' eating habits, there are a lot of fruits and vegetables that you shouldn’t allow them to take in. What Fruits and Vegetables Can Your Dog Eat?

Are you interested in knowing these foods? Read on to find out! In this article, we have compiled a list of at least ten vegetables and ten fruits that can either be safe or unsafe for your dog's health. Be sure to revisit this article in case you need more clarification before feeding your dog. Let’s get into it!

Eatable and Non-Eatable Fruits To Dogs

Avocado

I love avocado and I can either eat them plain or add to other delicacies. Although it might seem like a perfect addition to your dog's food, avocado is not ideal for your pet’s health. Persin, a toxin contained in the fruit, causes diarrhoea and vomiting in dogs.

Banana

This is one of the sweetest fruits around for humans. Fortunately, you can share them with your dog. It is an ideal treat primarily due to high amounts of nutrients which include fiber, vitamins, copper and potassium. All these are essential for the growth of your pet. You should, however, not include it in your dog's main diet because of the amount of sugar.

Apple

Do you love apples? Chances are you have once shared it with your dog. But is it safe? The answer is yes! Your dog can eat an apple and digest it without any significant problem. Their low proteins make them perfect for older dogs. However, before you go on and feed your dog, make sure that you remove all the seeds from the fruit.

Blueberries

Wondering whether blueberries are safe for your dog? Well, they are an ideal source of phytochemicals and antioxidants. The latter helps in the prevention of cell damage in both canines and humans. Therefore, blueberries can be eaten by dogs without any complications occurring. Since it is a treat, do not let the amount exceed 10%, of the regular diet. This way, you will have a healthy friend in your home.

Cantaloupe

Cantaloupe can be a great addition to your dog's daily diet. Similar to blueberries, this fruit helps reduce the risk of cell damage. Additionally, the chemicals it contains can also prevent cancer. Is your dog struggling with eyesight? A regular treat of cantaloupe could help with that. However, do not let your dog feed on cantaloupe rind because its tough nature can cause complications.

Cherries

As for cherries, it is quite complicated, but if you want a short answer, then that will be a "no." The fleshy part is safe for your dog to eat because it does not have any harmful chemicals. The rest of the fruit, however, have cyanide, a toxin that may disrupt the transportation of oxygen across cells. As such, the red blood cells will be starved of oxygen. Usually, after consumption of cherries, your dog will show some symptoms such as red gums, breathing difficulties, and dilated gums. If this happens, make sure to visit your vet as soon as possible.

Grapes

Although they may seem a perfect fit for your dog's diet, grapes may lead to fatal health problems for your dog. A 10-pound dog may experience some of the worst effects with an in ingestion of as little as one grape. Such symptoms include kidney failure and could lead to death if not treated soon enough. Therefore, always be wary of what your dog puts in its mouth.

Cranberries

It is safe to feed your dog on cranberries as there are no reports of any fatal impacts. It is, however, not a favourite treat for all dogs. Some may like it fresh, while others will prefer dried cranberries. Either way, it is essential to ensure that you give your dog small amounts. Excessive use of these fruits may also become toxic.

Cucumbers

With no fats, oils, and carbohydrates, cucumbers could be an ideal fruit for your overweight dog. They have several vitamins including B1, K, and C and minerals such as copper and potassium. Apart from these nutrients, cucumbers also ensure that your dog remains strong by boosting its energy levels. If your dog is used to chewing cucumbers, let it continue doing so as it is advantageous to its health.a

Mango

Who does not like mangoes? Nothing beats the refreshing feeling of cold mango juice, or at least in my opinion. The good thing is that they are safe for your dog to feed on, and you can occasionally add them to your dog's diet. The coating, however, contain cyanide (though in small amounts) which could be dangerous to your dog's wellbeing. Therefore, make sure to remove the coating before giving it to your dog. Also, mangoes are very rich in sugar hence regular consumption is not recommended.

Oranges

Another set of popular fruits which everyone has at least had a taste. They are also quite safe for your dog as there are no toxins contained in them. Oranges contain huge amounts of vitamin C, fiber, and potassium. The disadvantage, however, is the strong smell of the citrus. Not all dogs are fans of such smells but if they like it, then it is a tasty treat. Remember to remove the peel as it will do no good to the dog’s digestive system.

Peaches

Loaded with plenty of vitamins, peaches are one of the best treats you could give to your dog. The pit, however, has cyanide which is toxic for your pet. Nonetheless, this is something you can easily deal with as the fruit as more advantages to your dog’s health. Canned peaches have a lot of sugars which might not be ideal for your pet’s overall health.

Pears

How about pears? You may ask. Well, like most of the fruits in this list, pears are very safe for a dog’s consumption. Before you start preparing pears for your dog, please confirm its medical history. If it has been diagnosed with diabetes, it will be a good thing to forget about the fruit for your dog’s sake. However, if it is not diabetic, you can share the fruit but in small amounts since some of its parts may contain small amounts of cyanide.

Raspberries

Another berry in our list is raspberry and it can be eaten by any dog without any health repercussions. The advantage is that apart from being rich in fiber, vitamin C, and manganese, they do not have too much calories and sugars. As such, they are ideal for aging dogs since they can also help nourish the aging joints. Again, ensure that you moderate the amount of raspberries taken in by your dog for health safety purposes.

Strawberries

Strawberries are safe for consumption but should be eaten in small amounts because of high levels of sugar. The most unique property of these fruits is the enzyme that helps whiten the teeth.

Tomatoes

Although it is one of the most consumed fruits by humans, tomatoes should not be given to dogs. Except for a completely ripe tomato, the green areas have solanine which is quite toxic for your pet. We recommend that you do not risk feeding them with this fruit as you wouldn’t want to deal with whatever issues that may arise.

Watermelon

I bet you have tried this fruit before, whether you like it or not is a different thing. Dogs can also have a taste of this fruit without necessarily experiencing any complications. Ensure that you give them the flesh alone as the outer coat may be a risk to the digestive system.

Edible and Non-Edible Vegetables For Dogs

Spinach

Let us kick off this list with a popular green vegetable. Spinach is safe for your dog, and you can include it in their daily food. However, the high amounts of oxalic acid make excessive use of this vegetable quite dangerous. The issues that may arise after this include kidney failure, which result from the body's inability to absorb calcium. But if you consider all these effects while preparing spinach for your dog, it might be one of the best vegetable options.

Peas

All types of peas ranging from English peas to green peas are safe for your dog. Like most of the fruits and vegetables in this list, moderation is significant. Although it is rich is several minerals, vitamins, and protein, overconsumption can be disastrous. Also, try to avoid canned peas and opt for either fresh or frozen ones.

Onions

Avoid onions as much as possible for the sake of your pet's wellbeing. They contain Allium toxin, which is very dangerous and can be fatal to your dog. Some of the repercussions that come with eating onions include rupturing of red blood cells, diarrhoea, vomiting. Therefore, it is vital that you keep your dogs away from this vegetable; otherwise, it could be disastrous.

Asparagus

Another vegetable to be avoided is the asparagus. Your dog can safely eat this vegetable, but some things make them risky. It is quite tough when raw and should be cooked for it to soften. However, cooked asparagus does not provide quite enough benefits to your dog. Therefore, instead of too much hustle, we recommend that you consider other vegetables that we have included in our list.

Broccoli

Broccoli is one of the most popular vegetable added in typical delicacies. As you enjoy your lunch or dinner, have you ever thought whether it is safe to welcome your dog? Well, the answer is yes, dogs can eat broccoli without any problems. It is, however, best if it comes as an occasional treat rather than a daily diet. Broccoli contains vitamin C and fibre; it is also low in fat. You may also want to skip the stalks as they have been known to be one of the causes of obstruction in the oesophagus.

Brussels Sprouts

The most important properties of brussels sprouts include the antioxidants. These are useful in fighting and preventing infections, and the nutrients contained in these vegetables help support the course. However, too much of brussels sprouts could end up causing discomfort to your dog's abdominal area due to gases. If you opt for cabbages, then the advantages and disadvantages are quite similar.

Carrots

If you have a rabbit as your pet, then you must have noticed that carrots are their favourite vegetables. But what about your dogs? Can they also eat carrots? Yes, they can boost their health substantially. Carrots are best known for their vitamin A and significant role in eyesight improvement. Most dogs like eating them because of the crunching feel which is not only fun but also exercises the teeth.

Celery

If you are looking for an all in one veggie with vitamins A, B, and C, then celery is your best option. It is safe for your dog, and apart from the vitamins, it also improves the health of your pet's heart as well as fight cancerous cells. They can also improve the breath of your dog, which is crucial to its hygiene.

Green Beans

Looking for other veggies that can be eaten by dogs? Try green beans which contain all sorts of nutrients necessary for the growth of your puppy. Celery also has minimal amounts of calories, which makes it also ideal for older dogs. Apart from this, another advantage is that it can be served while steamed, raw, chopped, or even canned.

Mushrooms

Are you a fan of mushrooms? Well, regardless of your thoughts on these veggies, you should not let your dog feed on them. There are many species of mushrooms, and nearly all of them are toxic to your dog. They may lead to fatal conditions or even – in rare situations – to death.

You may have a number of cute options to choose from at the pet store. Animals and fish are all so lovely, and you may be having a hard time picking one to take home with you.

As the title suggests, we are suggesting that you get cats. And for very good reasons.

Cats, for some reason, have a bad reputation for being moody and bipolar. But, if you get to know more about cats, and how they think and operate, you will get to see their true, beautiful nature.

You shouldn’t adopt cats if you already have fish, reptiles, or birds at home. They will just become prey. However, if you have any other animals, or none at all, cats will bring sunshine to your plain world.

Excited to know all the benefits of having cute cats as your roommates? Let’s begin!

Cats are Quiet

One of the best traits of cats is that they are quiet. They only meow when they need food, and purr when they feel loved. How cute is that!

Although reptiles don’t make any noise, they are high maintenance. As for aquatic animals, their tank needs to be cleaned often, which can be annoying.

Cats, on the other hand, only need to bathe once in a while. Since they stay indoors most of the time, they don’t really get dirty. It is totally the opposite with dogs, though!

Therefore, if you get cats, you can be sure that they won’t start barking or screeching once the doorbell rings. Even if they spot a burglar outside, they will warn you stealthily, like real pros!

They are Not Overly Expensive

You need to be a millionaire to be able to afford exotic pets, such as leopards or snakes. However, cats are affordable, and you don’t have to be rich for them.

Cats are not high maintenance. They need a high quality diet, annual examination and emergency attention from the vet, core vaccinations, bathing, brushing, litter box arrangement, neuting, spraying, and a safe environment.

Cat food, bathing tools, a litter box and toys may vary in price. If you want to save money, just buy things that are more on the affordable side. Overall, looking after them is not complicated.

They Don’t Need Too Much Space

Cats are quite small. However, some breeds, like the Burmese cat, Persian cat, Egyptian Mau, Ragdoll, American Bobtail, Norwegian Forest cat, Maine Coon, Pixiebob, Bengal cat, British Shorthair, Turkish Van, Ragamuffin, and Siberian cat may be quite large in size.

The large cats need more luxury, whereas the average ones are happy with whatever you give them. Even when you give them a bed, they would rather cuddle up with you at night.

They are also very lithe, and can move through gaps effortlessly. Occasionally though, they will bump into things, and drop them by accident.

Honestly, they won’t grow more than four kilograms. Even the large ones have a limit of eight kilograms.

They Take Care of Pests In the House

By having cats at home, you are saving tons of money on removing pests and keeping them away for good. Cats love to hunt, and they are going to start meddling with any rats or bugs that enter your house.

Additionally, when the rodents realize what a potential pain in the arse your roommate is, they will just leave your house alone. It’s such a blessing to have cats, right?

They are Not Clingy

Cats are not moody. They are just too intelligent for us.

Cats understand the concept of personal space. They don’t want you to disturb them when they are busy. They won’t disturb you either when you are busy, unless it’s an emergency.

They know when and how to mind their own businesses, and whenever they get a chance, they will sleep.

Not only are they the silent types, these kitties are peaceful as well. Your roommates love to relax, and stay focused on themselves. In fact, they can be your meditation teacher!

They Can Pamper Themselves

You must have learned about some of the essential characteristics of cats by now. They are intelligent, peaceful, low maintenance, respect personal space, and keep homes free from pests.

Guess what? They are also clean freaks!

If you observe cats, you will notice that they like to use their tongues to clean themselves very often. In fact, they do this as often as they take a nap.

So, even if you forget to bathe or groom them, they can take care of themselves. Truly, the most independent of all the pets!

They are Therapeutic

Many researches confirm that cute cats are highly beneficial for people with illnesses. Cats can lower the blood pressure of people suffering from heart diseases.

They can also help those who have anxiety and depression. They just have this calming effect on humans, and people can’t help but feel better around them.

You won’t believe this, but their ‘purring’ can heal bones, tendons, and muscles. Listening to their purring, and watching them can calm the nervous system.

Furthermore, many people who live by themselves adopt cats, and they have never regretted it. These little fluff balls are great companions in the house, and they are super smart at the same time.

Final Thoughts

Even people who never owned a cat know how adorable it is. Have you noticed how popular cats are in the pet community? No wonder!

Today, your newsfeed gets flooded with cat memes all the time. Moreover, there are so many videos on the Internet about cats, that you hardly watch TV anymore.

But won’t it be healthier if you just have a cat as your roommate, instead of watching other people’s cats on YouTube? You can watch your little precious baby all day long, and you get to play with it as well!

So, we hope that this article will help you to make the best decision at the pet shop. It’s going to be so worth it!

Teaching your dog to walk on a leash can be pretty challenging. Dogs are inquisitive creatures, so your pup might get distracted too many times during the walk. And as a result, he might pull the leash, zigzag his way, stop suddenly, or even get entangled in the leash.

Leash training takes time and patience, but the fact is that there are some shortcuts. Using the right dog-walking gear can help you with this. For instance, a harness could be exactly what your pup needs.

Why a Harness Might be Your Best Option?

When it comes to walking your pup on a leash, you have two choices before you – harness or collar. Both options have their own pros and cons, so there is no ultimate answer to which of these two is better. It all depends on your dog’s personality, as well as your own preferences.

That said, let’s talk a bit about some of the biggest advantages of using a dog harness.

It’s really comfy for the dog – A harness will spread the weight evenly across his chest, so when he pulls, it won’t hurt him much. If you used a collar instead, pulling vigorously could hurt him, potentially causing neck/throat injuries.

It’s really safe – Sure, you could try to reduce the risk of injuries caused by dog collars by making it looser, but that way, you will increase the risk that he might slip away. Believe it or not, when your pup is motivated enough, he can get pretty sneaky and find a way to release himself from his collar.

A dog harness puts you in charge – Another advantage of a harness over a dog collaris that it makes it easier for you to stay in control. When the leash is attached to the collar, it allows him to change his direction whenever and wherever he feels like it.

It makes walks easier for the dog – We’re not yet done with talking about the advantages of a dog harness. Another thing that makes it an awesome choice is the fact that harnesses can be of a lot of help to a tired dog. If your pup is low on energy after a long walk, you can help him out by pulling up the harness.

It makes the dog go forward – With a dog harness, it is not that easy to spin around by 180 degrees. Actually, it’s almost impossible for him to rotate his body on the spot because his center of gravity is upfront and that’s where the harness strap is.

What’s So Great About Front-Clip Dog Harnesses?

We’ve mentioned that a harness is a great choice for those dog owner’s whose pup likes to pull forward with all his strength. In this case, even a regular harness is better than a dog collar. Still, if you want to take it to a whole new level, we say go for a front-clip harness.

Also known as no-pull harnesses, they have clips upfront rather than above his shoulders. Why is this so important? It’s physics really – your dog’s center of gravity is upfront, which means that when he tries to pull vigorously forward, this kind of harness will make him turn around.

Instead, the only way for him to go straight is to take it easy. Sure, at first, you can be sure it’s going to be weird for him, but once he gets used to it, he’ll become a dog that walks slowly and elegantly. Due to this fact, these types of harnesses are often the choice of those whose pups are just learning how to walk on a leash.

A front-clip harness will help you teach him to walk slowly, without any pulling or tugging. And once he masters this skill, you will be able to use a back-clip harness or even a dog collar to take him for a walk.

Are There Any Advantages to Choosing a Dog Collar?

Of course there are! Otherwise, no one would ever use them. So, which advantages are we talking about? Here are a couple of them:

Easy to put on – You need literally only a few seconds to put a collar on your dog; that’s not the case with harnesses. If your pup is a restless little devil, putting on a harness could be really challenging.

No need to take it off – There really is no need to put the collar on every time you take him for a walk, only to take it off when the walk is over. You can leave it on him all the time. You can’t do this with a harness, because it could make him feel uncomfortable after a while.

A dog collar will make him look nice – A harness can be big and cover a large part of your pup’s back, hiding his shiny fur from the eyes of passersby.

Price – The fact is that dog collars are cheaper than harnesses. It’s obvious why that’s the case. They’re smaller, meaning that less material is used for making them.

Picking the Right Harness/Collar for Your Dog

As you can see for yourself, both solutions have their own advantages, but one thing is certain, if the collar/harness isn’t the right size, your pup won’t feel comfortable. And it’s your dog’s wellbeing that matters the most, after all.

For instance, if a harness is too small, it will be tight on your dog. And that would put a lot of pressure on his chest and front legs, causing him pain and discomfort. If the harness you pick is too large, it is guaranteed to make walking difficult for him.

The good news is that most harnesses you can find in your local pet store are probably adjustable. Still, if you want to play it safe, our advice is to look for products designed specifically for your pup’s breed. For example, if he’s a French bulldog, you should look for a Frenchie harness; if he’s a German shepherd, look for a harness made for this breed. You get the picture…

Dog authorities consider the Boerboel breed of dogs to be obedient, reliable, and intelligent. They’re usually loyal, playful, affectionate, confident, and loving of their families. However, they can be aggressive and extremely protective especially when provoked. These dogs make great family pets when trained and treated well because of their unique blend of gentleness and roughness. Check out the video below to see the grace and power of this breed.

If you’re looking for black Boerboel puppies for sale, there are some factors to consider when choosing a five- to six-week-old puppy particularly if you prefer a purebred Boerboel. Here’s a list.

Breeder. Buy only from a registered and reputable breeder. First of all, you want to purchase your Boerboel puppy from someone who’s willing to guide you along the way. Choose only a seller who can guarantee the dogs he sells. Here’s what you can do:

Check the breeder’s home and the premises. It should be clean and odor-free. Puppies and dogs should be well fed, clean, and lively.

Ask for a proof of the dog’s health screenings, which a responsible dog breeder would gladly provide.

Ensure that the seller provides proper documentation of the dog’s pedigree or papers.

A good breeder should willingly answer your questions and ensures that the puppies will find a good home by asking you questions, too.

Male or female. If you plan to buy a female puppy, check that the puppy you choose has at least eight teats. If you’ve decided to buy a male dog, verify that both testicles are present. You can check this by carefully feeling for them – they should feel like small marbles. The testicles should have come down into the scrota by around six weeks of age.

Coat. Check the dog’s coat. Choose a puppy that has smooth, short, dense, and soft hair, giving the puppy a plush appearance. All these hair characteristics will aid in the prevention of sunburn, flies, and ticks. Be careful with dogs with longish hair particularly at the back of its legs because this is not acceptable according to the breed standards.

Color. If you’re very particular in having a purebred Boerboel, consider the puppy’s color. According to the breed standards of the Boerboel, the accepted colors include brown or brindle as well as any shade of red regardless of any mask. However, don’t let color be the dominant reason for choosing your puppy; what’s important is that other traits under the breed standards are satisfied.

Pigmentation. Check the pigmentation. According to the official breed standards of the Boerboel, there should be sufficient pigmentation such as black toenails, black nose, and black lips. The palate, hair, and skin around the genitals and eyes should be as dark or as black as possible. However, note that pigmentation doesn’t have anything to do with a puppy’s mask or lack thereof.

Ears. Inspect the ears. The puppy’s earflaps should hang neatly by the side of the head. Half-upright and upright earflaps are considered undesirable. Check that the ears are not too close to each other.

Teeth. Check the teeth. Ensure that the puppy has healthy teeth and should preferably have a scissor bite. A scissor bite is where the incisors in the upper jaw are in contact but with a slight overlap with the bottom jaw, which produces a scissor appearance. If the bottom lip sticks out of the upper lip at this age, the puppy is sure to have an incorrect bite when it’s fully grown.

Muscles. Note the puppy’s muscles and balance. The puppy should be well balanced and have strong muscles. Try bending the puppy’s head and check that there is ample space between the shoulder blades. The wider the space, the better the shoulder attachment and the more muscles there will be. The shoulder blades should feel rounded and not pointed.

Forequarter angulations. Check the angulations of the forequarter. The foreleg’s upper arm should be slanting forward at 30°, and the shoulder blade should be slanting backward at the same angle. The angle between the upper arm and the shoulder blade should be 120°.

Hindquarter angulations. Check the hindquarter’s angulations. When you look from the puppy’s side, the hind legs shouldn’t be straight. Observe the hind legs from behind – these should not be too cow-hocked.

Tail. Check the tail setting. Choose a puppy with a tail that is set high. Note that the tail is a dog’s spine extension.

Final Thoughts

It’s essential that you know the reason for getting a puppy before buying one. If you’re looking for a companion, family friend, and protector, a Boerboel puppy would be a great candidate. Note that this breed is very sociable and has to be a part of your family. Shower your puppy with all the attention and love it deserves and it will surely grow to be your family’s best friend.

If you've taken care of a dog at least once in your life and felt genuinely bonded with your pet, you may have a "heart dog." The term heart dog is a concept among dog lovers to mean that one special canine in their lives that's pretty much an equivalent of a soulmate.
But before we talk about heart dogs, it’s first essential to understand why dogs and humans share such a special bond.

The Human-Canine Bond
You've probably heard the phrase "a dog is a man's best friend" way too many times, and often, that is the case. Dogs make loyal companions. They are also protectors. And often, dogs are regarded as part of a family, like your very own child or sibling.

Because dogs are family in every sense of the word, you feed them, give them a comfortable bed, bring them to the vet when they’re sick, play with them, talk to them, and basically treat them like you would another human who is very special to you. In other words, dogs are more than just family pets.

Interestingly, the human-canine bond did not start this way at all. In the prehistoric times, dogs are scavengers, far from the image of the domesticated dogs we have today. The present-day dog is known to have descended from wolves, and although most of their behaviors have been tamed, the modern dog still has a lot of the wolf's characteristics, including the following:

They are territorial.

They feel a sense of belongingness and happiness with their pack.

They greet other dogs enthusiastically.

They display aggressive behavior against threats and enemies.

They are prey-driven and use of their senses.

They howl.

However, the domesticated dog has a particular set of behaviors that allow them to get along easily with humans. Dogs find it easy to live their lives with their humans, and humans feel a great sense of companionship and friendship with their four-legged furry babies.

Why is it so easy for dogs and humans to bond? Here are some reasons:

Emotional connection
Humans don't regard dogs as alien species. Dogs and humans can connect at an emotional level because most humans regard dogs as family, rather than a different species. If you find yourself talking to your dog and your dog somehow listens and understands you, it's because you can connect with the canine emotionally.

Ability to sense human activity
Second, the dog has exceptional senses to predict human activity. Whether you're preparing a meal, getting ready to bed, leaving for work, or about to arrive home, dogs can sense it. They have the instincts of a hunter from their wolf grandparents, allowing the modern-day dog to detect not only food but also the actions of their owners.

Ability to empathize with human feelings
Lastly, dogs are very attuned to human emotions. It seems like dogs know when to comfort you when you are sad or look guilty when they do something wrong. They have an incredible ability to identify human feelings and respond to these feelings accordingly.

Now, with these abilities and characteristics, it’s not very difficult to form a deeper human-dog bond and relationship. And with that, the idea of a "heart dog" is born.

Can You Have More Than One Heart Dog?
Every dog is different, just as how every child is unique to the eyes of their parents. But when that special dog passes away, would you be able to develop that same kind of bond and connection with another dog?

There is no definite answer. People who claim to have a heart dog believe that such dog will always take a special place in their hearts and it's difficult for another dog to emulate that same kind of feeling and affection.

Maybe another dog will come into your life who can protect you, give you company, and comfort you, but when you have a heart dog, it's often difficult to replicate that same feeling. Perhaps you can have several dogs in your life, and all of them can be special to you in their own unique ways, but a heart dog will always be different and will stand out from the rest.

Final Words
For some dog owners, they don't instantly realize they have a heart dog until that dog passes away. They feel a profound void that other dogs can't seem to fill, even when the other dogs are so much cuter, friendlier, sillier, or gentler. The bond with their heart dog is so special that it's hard to compare it with other dogs.
The heart dog is a fascinating concept and phenomenon, one that every dog owner should explore even more deeply with their canines.
